The city of Vancouver will open its online application process Monday for up to $9.5 million from the Affordable Housing Fund.

The funding will support developers, nonprofit groups and other housing providers in creating permanently affordable housing and addressing homelessness for low-income households in the area.

Applications for the funding will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly. This new approach aims to offer increased flexibility and timely support for housing projects.

The fund is designed to fund initiatives that:

  • Build and preserve affordable housing;
  • Provide temporary shelter for people experiencing homelessness;
  • Offer rental assistance and services to prevent eviction or assist with accessing rental units;
  • Support low-income homeowners and homebuyers.

The funding is targeted at projects benefiting households earning less than 50 percent of the area median income for rental housing and less than 80 percent of the area median income for homeownership opportunities. For example, 50 percent of the area median income for a family of four is $59,000, while 80 percent is $94,400.

Prospective applicants can learn more about the funding process through a recorded information session available online at www.cityofvancouver.us/economic-prosperity-and-housing/affordable-housing-fund/.
