I attended the University of Oregon to study journalism. It was my father and great-grandfather’s alma mater. But what really attracted me was the student newspaper, The Daily Emerald, which operates independently of the school as a nonprofit news source.
As soon as I arrived, I began racing on the university’s sailing team, which developed my teamwork skills and gave me the ultimate metaphor for a business: the sailboat.
