One person was taken to a Portland hospital for burns suffered during a travel-trailer fire Monday afternoon in east Vancouver.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded at 1:49 p.m. to reports of a vehicle fire at 17401 S.E. 39th St., in the Vista Del Rio neighborhood.

Fire engines arrived to find a travel-trailer engulfed in flames. Crews eventually extinguished the fire before the flames spread to nearby houses, according to a Vancouver Fire news release.

Paramedics treated one person who was badly burned, according to the release. The person was then taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland for treatment at the hospital’s burn unit.

No firefighters were injured, according to Vancouver Fire. The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
