YAKIMA — The Woodland girls basketball team’s first foray into the state tournament in 11 years ended with a 44-40 overtime loss to Bainbridge on Wednesday.
The Beavers were held to two points in overtime after Kennedy Bockert’s midrange shot at the end of regulation rimmed out.
Woodland (18-5) saw its season end in the Class 2A Round of 12. Still, coach Glen Flanagan was proud of a team that advanced past the first round for the first time since 2006.
“A lot of girls would die to end up here,” Flanagan said. “We showed well and we’re one of the top 12 teams in the state. We’ve had some great groups that didn’t make it, so I told them to appreciate it because it doesn’t happen all the time.”
