Jurassic jam
The Downtown Camas Association will host Jurassic Camas at First Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Stomp, chomp and roar your way through downtown Camas with Jurassic Camas Quest activities and prizes; a dino dig and rock, mineral and fossil pop-up with Crystal Cavern; salt dough fossils with Girl Scouts; dino photo ops; art shows; the Great Dino Egg Hunt Adventure where guests can search for a treasure-filled egg and a chance to win a dinosaur Lego set; plus after-hours shopping and dining at Camas eateries. Author and historian Jeff Davis will lead a Grant House Ghost Tour from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Willful Wine, 1101 Officers Row, Vancouver. Tourtakers should meet on the first floor, then Davis will spook the wine out of their glasses as he reveals the history of Grant House and its five resident ghosts. A mighty wind
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Chamber Ensemble will perform Mozart’s “Gran Partita” at 7 p.m. Saturday at Joyce Garver Theater, 1500 N.E. Garfield St., Camas, and at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver. The program will be conducted by maestro Ken Selden, director of orchestral studies at Portland State University. “Gran Partita” roughly translates to “big wind symphony,” featuring 13 musicians, 12 winds and a double bass. Clark College Jazz Bands will present their winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Gaiser Student Center at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. The Clark College Orchestra presents “A Night at the Ballet,” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Skyview High School, 81300 N.W. 139th St., Vancouver. The program features Vaughan Williams’ “Job” and Prokofieff’s “Romeo & Juliet.” The Clark College Concert Band presents its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, Royal Durst Theatre, 3101 N. Main St., Vancouver, featuring music by Mozart, Aleksander Sternfeld-Dunn, Franz von Suppe, Malcolm Arnold, Aaron Copland and Percy Grainger. Admission to all concerts is free though donations are welcome.
