Vancouver police are searching for a shooter after a man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound Friday morning in central Vancouver.

The shooting was reported shortly before 7 a.m. at the Burnt Bridge Creek trail near Northeast Andresen Road and 18th Street, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police arrived to find a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, the police department said. An update on his condition was unavailable by The Columbian’s print deadline.

Police closed streets in central Vancouver in the search for the shooter on the trail, as well as parts of the trail west of Andresen. Police said they deployed a police K-9 and a drone.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are interviewing potential witnesses to confirm a description of the shooter, police said. Police had not released any description of the shooter by The Columbian’s print deadline.

Portions of East 18th Street and Andresen and all of Devine Road closed for the search, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian. People were advised to avoid the area.
