Vancouver residents must bid farewell to the city’s oldest commercial building as its owners, the Schofield family, look to honor its legacy with something new.

Demolition of the nearly 150-year-old, two-story building at West Sixth and Main streets began earlier this year.

“Our family is deeply committed to preserving the spirit and essence of this iconic property, while recognizing the significant practical challenges it presents,” said Michael Aschieris, who owns the building with other members of the storied Schofield family.
