Harry Humason glided his finger over a worn page in a world atlas. He paused when his fingernail brushed against a small, yellowed Post-it note with a handwritten message reading simply, “Frankfurt.”

Humason, a 99-year-old Vancouver resident and decorated World War II veteran, fought in Gen. George Patton’s 3rd Army.
