Maddie Milhorn used her arm and her bat to lift the Skyview softball team to a pair of wins on Saturday at the Auburn Riverside Invitational.
Milhorn had 10 strikeouts and no walks over four innings as the Storm began the day with a 12-1 win over Kamiakin. The senior Oregon commit then went 3 for 4 with three RBI in a 12-3 win over Monroe.
Skyview (2-0) overcame a 3-1 deficit against Monroe. Addy Harmier’s three-run home run was part of a seven-run fifth inning.
Milhorn came on in relief in the nightcap, striking out seven and walking none over 2 2/3 innings. Maya Figueroa and Taylor Lies each had two hits.
Harmier started her big day by going 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI against Kamiakin. She finished the day 3 for 5 with six RBI and four runs scored.
Donald Wilson steps down as Seton boys basketball coach
Seton Catholic boys basketball coach Donald Wilson is stepping down after leading the Cougars to the Class 1A state tournament in both of his years in charge.
In a statement, the school announced that Wilson stepped away to focus on “endeavors outside of high school athletics.”
“The Seton Catholic Community would like to extend a huge thank you to Coach Donald Wilson for his time as an assistant coach and for the last two years as the boys basketball head coach here at Seton Catholic,” the statement read. “Donald has been a part of our Seton Family for years and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors!”
Wilson coached a talented senior class that reached the state quarterfinals each of the past two years. Those teams also included Wilson’s son Kaiden Wilson, a sophomore who has won back-to-back Trico League MVPs.
Wilson earned back-to-back Trico League coach of the year awards, going 24-0 in league play and winning two District 4 titles.

Charlie Harris, Ridgefield softball, her hot bat powered the Spudders to a pair of wins in Bremerton. She went 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBI in a 4-2 win over North Kitsap. She then went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI in a 5-0 win over Olympic.
Lily Ritton, Hockinson softball, went 2 for 3 and was the winning pitcher in a 21-7 win over Squalicum, then went 2 for 2 with three runs and a triple in a 18-7 win over Sehome as the Hawks earned a pair of wins in Bellingham.
Ryland Perron, Columbia River boys soccer, scored two goals in a 4-1 win over Heritage.
Matt Alvarez and Jovanni Carrillo-Tapia, Evergreen boys soccer, each scored second-half goals as the Plainsmen rallied for a 2-1 win over Toppenish.
Riley Young, R.A. Long baseball, went 4 for 5 with three doubles and was the winning pitcher as the Lumberjacks beat Colville 11-3 at the Johnson-O’Brien Classic in Ephrata.
