Led by strong performances in the hurdles, the Clark College men’s and women’s track and field teams each placed third among 15 teams at the Lane Open on Saturday in Eugene, Ore.
Max Ensinger and Jackson McQuain tied for first in the 110 hurdles, each crossing the line in 15.44 seconds.
Koynn Williamdyke won the 400 hurdles in 55.92 seconds.
Clark women also topped the hurdles. Sarah Money won the 100 hurdles in a personal best of 15.39 seconds. Lacie Westervelt won the 400 hurdles in 1:06.82, also a personal best.
Mia Hicks-Oliver won the triple jump in a personal best of 35 feet, 10.5 inches.
J’Quan Collins finished second in the 100 meters (11.21) and placed third in the 200 with a season-best time of 22.60.
The Clark men tallied 74 points, behind only Lane (123) and Clackamas (86).
The Clark women’s 78 points trailed only Willamette (102) and Oregon Tech (81).
This week: Select Clark athletes will head to iconic Hayward Field to compete in the Oregon Preview on Friday and Saturday.
Baseball
Record: 3-5.
Last week: A pair of doubleheaders scheduled for Friday and Saturday against Treasure Valley were rained out.
This week: The Penguins travel to Pendleton, Ore., for doubleheaders against Blue Mountain on Friday and Saturday.
Softball
Record: 2-6.
Last week: Doubleheaders against Clackamas on Thursday and at Chemeketa on Saturday were both postponed due to rain.
This week: The Penguins head to Longview on Friday for a doubleheader against Lower Columbia starting at 3 p.m. Clark then heads north to Des Moines on Sunday for a doubleheader against Highline.
