The Vancouver Volcanoes are getting rolling in their third season since the franchise was reborn as part of The Basketball League.
The Volcanoes played a pair of games over the weekend, concluding with an 86-83 loss to the Great Falls Electric on Saturday at Hudson’s Bay High School.
Denzel Banks led Vancouver with 26 points on 11 for 22 shooting from the field. The 6-foot-2 guard from New Jersey is averaging 25.7 points through four games, including back-to-back 30-point games to open the season.
Jaylyn Richardson added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Western Oregon alum, who has played overseas in Indonesia, has notched two double-doubles and is averaging 17.0 points and 8.7 rebounds.
Vancouver (1-3) hits the road this week to face the Wenatchee Bighorns on Thursday and the Willamette Valley Jaguars on Saturday at McArthur Court in Eugene.
The Volcanoes return home for two games at Hudson’s Bay the following weekend. They host Wenatchee at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 29 and the Seattle Super Hawks at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30.

Couve Clover Run set for Sunday
The St. Patrick’s Day spirit will keep striding through the weekend with the annual Couve Clover Run on Sunday at the Vancouver Waterfront.
Courses of 3, 7 and 10 miles will take runners through the Vancouver National Historic Reserve and along the Waterfront Renaissance Trail. All races begin at 9 a.m.
Adult registration ranges from $62 from the 3-mile race to $92 for the 10 miler. Kids under 12 can run the 3-mile race for free.

Large club gymnastics meet coming to fairgrounds
Many of the top club gymnasts in the Northwest will gather April 10-13 for the 2025 Region 2 Championships at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds in Ridgefield.
Put on by Naydenov Gymnastics, the event includes gymnasts from levels 6 through 10. Levels 10 and All-Star competition is scheduled for Friday, April 11.
Admission is $25 per session, $40 per day or $75 for the entire event. Seniors are $15 and kids 6 and under are free.
