Prep highlights (March 20): Prairie softball double-steals win over Union 8-7

Lauren Bisson scored the winning run on a double steal in the bottom of the seventh as Prairie softball opened its season with an 8-7 win over Union on Thursday.

Bisson reached third on Ashlee Porter’s single with no outs. She then scored when Porter stole second.

It was a close game throughout, with Union tying the game with a single run in the top of the seventh.

Porter and Payton Blunt each had two hits for the Falcons. Mackenzie Moore added a solo home run.

Michala Dupree had a big game for Union, going 3 fot 5 with two doubles and five RBI. Her two-RBI single gave the Titans a 5-4 lead in the fourth before her RBI double pulled Union within 7-6 in the sixth.

Stars of the day

  • Lahna Moon, Kalama softball, went 3 for 5 with two home runs and five RBI in a 21-6 win over King’s Way Christian
  • Mika Concannon, Battle Ground softball, allowed just two hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one, in a 10-0 win over Mountain View.
  • Brandon Nguyen, Ridgefield boys track and field, won the 200 meters, long jump and triple jump at the dual meet with Woodland. His triple jump mark of 38 feet, 11 inches was a personal best.
