A recent Academy Award-winning drama tops the DVD releases for the week of March 25.

“The Brutalist”: Adrien Brody claimed his second best actor Oscar for his portrayal of an architect who comes to America after surviving the Holocaust and becomes enmeshed with an industrialist patron in director Brady Corbet’s 3.5-hour saga. The large supporting cast boasts Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce, both Oscar nominated.

“There are movies like ‘The Brutalist’ where the seams show, but there’s too much worth relishing to worry about the seams,” writes Chicago Tribune critic Michael Phillips in his review. “‘The Brutalist’ is also an American immigration tale, as well as catnip for anyone with a passing interest in architecture or design.”

Also new on DVD

“Memoir of a Snail”: A woman recounts her life story to her favorite snail in this stop-motion animated film from Australian writer-director Adam Elliot.

“Mother, Couch”: Ellen Burstyn stars as the titular matriarch who won’t get up from a furniture store sofa in this dark comedy featuring Ewan McGregor, Rhys Ifans and Lara Flynn Boyle as her children who converge on the scene.
