Wildcats advance to title game of Alan Embree Bracket at Baseballism PNW Kickoff Classic

Justin Fuller went 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBI and Houston Coyle was 2 for 3 with four RBI as the La Center baseball team beat Shelton 12-6 to advance to the title game in the Alan Embree Bracket of the Baseballism Pacific Northwest Kickoff Classic Friday at Mountain View High School.

The Wildcats will face the winner of Saturday’s game between Graham-Kapowsin and Mountain View at 4 p.m.

La Center scored five runs in the third and again in the fourth inning to blow open a closer game.

In the Robert Ramsey Bracket at Mountain View, James Gill III struck out over four scoreless innings of work in Battle Ground’s 4-3 loss to Mount Vernon in nine innings.

Mount Vernon pushed across a run in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. After both teams scored twice in the eighth inning, the Bulldogs added the winning run in the ninth.

Gill also walked three times for Battle Ground, which will play either Tumwater or Tahoma at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Brady Hamer went 2 for 4 with a double and eight RBI as Castle Rock routed Centralia 31-14 in the Randy Myers Bracket at Heritage High School.

Trevor Rogen added five RBI for the Rockets, who will face Hudson’s Bay or Heritage in the title game at 4 p.m.

Evergreen baseball wins in extras

Elijah Breaker singled home Ryno Catabay from third with one out in the bottom of the eighth to rally the Evergreen baseball team to a 10-9 win over Columbia-White Salmon.

After Seth White’s RBI single gave Columbia a 9-8 lead in the top of the eighth, the Plainsmen rallied for two in the bottom of the inning to win.

Malachi Lewis led off with a single then stole second and third. Catabay walked then stole second.

Ace Gutierrez hit a sacrifice fly to score Lewis with the tying run and Catabay taking third.

Then Lewis singled home Catabay for the win. Gutierrez was 2 for 2 with double, two walks and four RBI.

Hockinson soccer tops R.A. Long

Alonzo Flores scored two goals off assists from Xavier Ayala as the Hockinson boys soccer team moved into first place in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with a 2-0 win over R.A. Long.

Jasper Armstrong recorded seven saves in goal to record the shutout for the Hawks (4-1, 4-0 2A GSHL0.

Derek Tarnoski, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 2 for 2 with two walks, two runs, a triple and two RBI in a 12-2 win over Hockinson.

Mackenzie Moore, Prairie softball, struck out nine over five innings and went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBI in a 12-6 win over Tahoma in five innings at the Auburn Riverside Invitational.

JP Guzman, Columbia River boys soccer, had two goals and two assists in a 5-2 win over Ridgefield.

Angel Villalobos, Hudson’s Bay boys soccer, had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Woodland.
