Nominees for the Week 20 prep athlete of the week sponsored by Killer Burger

Nominees from Ridgefield, Evergreen, Hockinson, Fort Vancouver and La Center

Here are the nominees for The Columbian 2024-25 Week 20 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

To avoid vote manipulation, participants are being asked to log-in with their Columbian.com account or to sign-up for a free account before casting a vote.

Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week’s results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by 6 p.m. Sunday for consideration.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the nominees:

DANICA ALLEN, RIDGEFIELD TRACK AND FIELD: The senior set a school record by winning the 3,200 meters in 11:09.65 in a league dual against Woodland.

RYNO CATABAY, EVERGREEN BASEBALL: The sophomore went 5 for 6 with six walks, a home run and seven RBI and threw 4.1 scoreless innings in three wins for the Plainsmen.

ALONZO FLORES, HOCKINSON BOYS SOCCER: The senior had five goals and one assists in three league wins for the Hawks.

ZOEY HIGHFILL, FORT VANCOUVER SOFTBALL: The freshman went 7 for 8 with six runs, four doubles and seven RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Washougal.

CARTER SHERRY, LA CENTER TRACK AND FIELD: The senior won the 400 meters (52.76) and the 800 meters (2:02.46) at the Lewis River Jamboree in Ridgefield.
