Lucas Orr hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth inning as Washougal baseball knocked off Grants Pass 3-1 on Wednesday at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.

Held to one hit through four innings, Washougal got its breakthrough when Orr hit a two-out blast to right field to put the Panthers ahead 2-1.

Washougal added an insurance run in the sixth when Sam McKee doubled then scored two batters later on an error.

Washougal starter Jacob Bellamy worked out of trouble early. He stranded eight baserunners in the first three innings, twice leaving the bases loaded. Tyler Thompson got the win, allowing one hit over the final 3 2/3 innings.

Grants Pass split two games in the area. The Cavemen, ranked No. 13 in Oregon’s Class 6A, beat Ridgefield 9-2 on Tuesday.
