Local staffing companies are bracing for a new tax expansion passed by the Legislature late last month.

Lawmakers approved two large revenue bills as part of their $77.8 billion budget deal in April in an effort to address a projected multibillion-dollar budget shortfall.

The bills are awaiting the governor’s signature.
