The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim of a May 2 apartment fire in central Vancouver as Megan Peterkin, 38.

The medical examiner’s office said Peterkin’s cause and manner of death are pending.

Vancouver Fire Department firefighters responded to the fire at Evergreen Pointe Apartments, 4503 E. Fifth St., in the Dubois Park neighborhood. Crews arrived just before 3 a.m. to see flames coming from a third-story unit and called for a second alarm. Crews got the fire under control in about 30 minutes, the agency said.

No one else was injured in the fire.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office has not yet determined the cause of the fire.

Peterkin, who had a Bachelor of Science degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2015 to work as an account analyst for Managed Health Care Associates Inc. and was later promoted to product analyst. She is survived by parents Wendy and Jim Peterkin, younger sister Caitlin Carter and brother-in-law Calvin Carter, and nephew Sylas Carter.

Celebrations of Peterkin’s life will be held in Oregon City, Ore., on Monday and in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 14. In lieu of flowers, Peterkin’s family asks that well-wishers donate to PBS, NPR or a local library.
