Louanne Mason, daughter of Weight Control Officer Joseph Modlin, from left, and John Batiste, Chief of Washington State Patrol, join Mason's husband, Doug, after unveiling a memorial plaque in honor of Modlin at the Ridgefield Port of Entry on Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2020. Officer Modlin died in the line of duty on August 15, 1974 when he was struck by a logging truck. The Washington State Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Division also hosted a grand opening and dedication of the newly built Ridgefield Port of Entry during the event.
