FAQ

How do I view The Columbian's mobile Web site?

Open your browser and go to m.columbian.com.

Which smartphones have Columbian applications?

You can download applications for the iPhone, Blackberry and any phone using the Android operating system.

Is there a cost?

No. The applications are free.

What types of content can I find on the mobile site and applications?

You'll see that we offer breaking local news and coverage of area sports, business, opinion and lifestyles and entertainment. Staff blogs, guest columns and some of our community blogs can also be found, as well as events and weather. You'll also see some regional, national and world news. We'll continue to add more content, so stay tuned and/or let us know if there's something you'd like to see us cover.

Can I comment on Columbian stories on the mobile site or applications?

Not at this time but we hope to remedy that down the road. In the meantime, you'll need to go to columbian.com on your computer and post your comments.

How do I share a story via email, Facebook or Twitter?

Open a story in the app on your phone, and you should see an arrow at the bottom. Click on that and a menu appears to share the content. Note: You can only email stories on the Blackberry application at this time.

I'm seeing some strange codes in stories. Is there something wrong with my application or phone?

No, there is nothing with your application or phone. These codes appear due to a glitch in the way the stories move from one system to another at The Columbian. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this might create. We are working to reduce and eliminate these codes from content on the mobile site and applications.

Can I share news tips and photos from a mobile app with your editors?

Yes. Simply click on the Submit Tip button on the main menu bar and then take a photo or upload one from your phone and/or compose an email message with your news tip. The information gets sent to metrodesk@columbian.com, which is regularly checked by newsroom editors. We want to hear from you, especially if you have news to share or a photo people won't want to miss.

Can someone place an advertisement on the mobile site or apps?

Yes, of course. Just call 360-735-4578 and someone will be happy to help.
