BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A judge has sealed the case of a 16-year-old accused in juvenile court of driving the car that killed an Idaho cyclist on June 11.

The teen has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in Ada County Juvenile Court, where proceedings will be kept from the general public under orders by 4th District Juvenile Judge William Harrigfeld.

Police say the boy was driving westbound on Hill Road in northern Boise when he struck and killed 37-year-old Kevin Pavlis, a Meridian resident.

Pavlis was one of at least three cyclists to die in Boise over the summer, prompting debate over changes in traffic laws to boost cycling safety.

The teen faces punishment of up to 3 years supervised probation, 90 days in juvenile detention, driver’s license suspension, community service and restitution.
