BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Education officials in Idaho say the state has more than 360 National Board Certified teachers in public schools.

The state Department of Education says 10 Idaho teachers were among the nearly 8,900 nationwide who became National Board Certified in 2009.

In northern Idaho, where the Moscow School District is listed among the top five districts in the state for the most number of National Board Certified teachers, three teachers earned this status during the past year.

The National Research Council says students taught by National Board Certified Teachers make higher gains on achievement tests than students taught by non-board-certified teachers.
