A Tigard, Ore., man faces federal charges that he attempted to lure a 9-year-old Vancouver girl for sex.

Darrick Haaby is accused of repeatedly e-mailing the girl, with whom he was acquainted, soliciting sex.

Documents filed by federal prosecutors show Haaby wouldn’t take no for an answer, according to a report from KATU-TV.

The station reported that Haaby pursued the relationship for a month. After the girl’s father discovered the e-mail, he notified authorities and law enforcement officers posed as the girl to build their case.

KATU reported that Haaby is married and has a child of his own. He will appear at a detention hearing in U.S. District Court Friday, but meanwhile is being held in the Multnomah County Jail.

Teen robbed at gunpoint for his PlayStation

A teenager was robbed Monday evening at gunpoint in the Hazel Dell area of a PlayStation 3 he was trying to sell via Internet advertising site Craigslist.

The 17-year-old had arranged to meet the would-be customer at the corner of Northeast 88th Street and Northeast 37th Avenue to sell the PlayStation. But when the two met, the man snatched the video game system and ran.

As the teen started to chase him, the suspect turned around, pointed a silver handgun, and threatened to kill him, said Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Schanaker.

The teen called 911, and responding deputies set up a perimeter. A tracking dog was unleashed but couldn’t trace a scent, Schanaker said.

Meanwhile, deputies received reports that an unknown suspect was jumping fences in the 9700 block of Northeast 35th Avenue. One person said the man had entered a house on Northeast 36th Avenue and was hiding inside.

Deputies arrived, located and questioned the man. However, the victim said he didn’t know if he was the man who robbed him, Schanaker said. Deputies didn’t make an arrest, and are continuing to investigate.
