Linear Technology Corp., which operates a semiconductor plant in Camas, on Tuesday announced record earnings of $311 million for the quarter ending March 31.

The California-based company saw a 21 percent increase from its earnings of $256 million in February, and a 55 percent increase from its March 2009 earnings of $201 million. Profits of $100.6 million in the quarter increased 33 percent over the previous quarter and increased 104 percent over the same quarter a year ago.

The company has recovered from the recession faster than expected, said Lothar Maier, chief executive officer. Its Camas operation has also bounced back, adding 30 employees since the start of 2010. Linear will continue to ramp up capacity in coming months and expects to hire 20 more workers through midyear.
