PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A sheriff’s deputy in Washington state has sued Burger King and a restaurant franchise owner over a Whopper he says a worker spit on.

The Clark County sheriff’s deputy alleges he pulled into a Vancouver, Wash., Burger King early one morning in March 2009 to get a meal.

Deputy Edward Bylsma (BILZ-muh) says in the federal court suit filed in Portland that he got an “uneasy feeling” about the two workers at the restaurant.

When he checked his hamburger, the suit says, it had a big gob of spit.

A spokesman for the Burger King franchise owner, Kaizen Restaurants in Beaverton, says both workers were fired and calls their actions “despicable.”
