A 64-year-old man was taken to a hospital Thursday morning after a road-rage incident in which he allegedly displayed a gun to another other driver near Vancouver’s Leverich Park, police said.

No shots were fired but several officers converged on the scene in the Minnehaha area.

About 9:30 a.m., the man and a 31-year-old man exchanged words about a traffic matter. Both pulled over near the 2600 block of Northeast 49th Street, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman with the Vancouver Police Department.

Kapp said the older man emerged from his car with a gun. He then decided to put the gun back in his car and the two men fought, Kapp said.

The older man fared worse in the fight and was taken to a hospital.

Police didn’t release the men’s names, because neither was arrested, so the older man’s medical condition was not immediately available.

Officers planned to forward their report to deputy prosecutors who will decide whether to charge the older man with brandishing a weapon, Kapp said.

Further details weren’t immediately available.
