SAO PAULO (AP) — Neymar scored five goals and Robinho added two to lead Santos over Guarani 8-1 in the first leg of the Brazilian Cup’s third round.

The victory Wednesday night at Vila Belmiro Stadium all but secured a place in the quarterfinals for the team made famous by Pele.

Neymar, an 18-year-old forward, scored three goals in the first half and two in the second. Robinho, on a loan from Manchester City, added a goal in each half.

Neymar has never been picked for Brazil’s national team.

“Every player wants to be in the national team,” he said. “It’s everybody’s dream and I’m glad to have so many people wanting me to be in the national team. I’ll keep playing hard, hopefully there’s a spot left for me.”

Santos has scored 53 goals in its last 10 matches.
