Vancouver police arrested a 26-year-old woman late Thursday morning after a resident arrived at her home in the 700 block of West 27th Street and found her rifling through her belongings in a bedroom.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 11 a.m., said police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

The woman who lives there told officers that the alleged burglar, upon being discovered, shoved her and ran outside. The women didn’t know each other, Kapp said.

A tracking dog sniffed out a trail and found the suspect in a nearby alley and she surrendered to police.

Amber R. Wydner of Vancouver was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary, Kapp said.

Thursday evening, Wydner was being held without bail in the Clark County Jail and is to make a first appearance in court this morning.
