GRANITE FALLS, Wash. (AP) — A former Granite Falls, Wash., mayor has been arrested, one of about 30 people targeted in a large drug sweep.

Police said Floyd “Butch” DeRosia was arrested Friday for investigation of two counts of selling marijuana. He held the city’s top post for two years until he resigned in 2003. DeRosia was not immediately reachable for comment.

The sweep is being carried out by Granite Falls police and the Snohomish County drug task force. Task force officials say most of the crimes alleged involve selling meth, marijuana or prescription drugs.

Police have also raided four homes said to house drug operations.

The arrests are the result of a two-year undercover investigation.

Granite Falls Police Chief Tony Domish says he doesn’t know about the war on drugs but “today we won the battle.”
