HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Astros reliever Alberto Arias is out for the season after right shoulder surgery.

The 26-year-old Arias appeared in three spring training games before he was placed on the disabled list on March 26. Arias is 4-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 63 career games with Colorado (2007-08) and Houston (2008-09). He was 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 42 games with the Astros in 2009.

Astros general manager Ed Wade says the surgery in Houston on Thursday repaired Arias’ rotator cuff and labrum and removed calcium deposits. Wade says he hopes Arias will be ready in time for spring training in 2011.
