PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a 72-year-old man who was rescued from his burning Salem home has died at a Portland hospital.

Firefighters found David Dempsey unconscious on the floor in his home early Wednesday morning. The Oregonian reports he was taken to the burn unit at Legacy Emanuel Health Center, where he died of his injuries Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the fire apparently began in some electrical wiring in the home’s living room.
