EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants are continuing to shore up their defensive line, selecting East Carolina defensive tackle Linval Joseph in the second round of the NFL draft.

The 6-foot-4, 328-pound Joseph is a big run stopper who blossomed after losing more than 70 pounds after his freshman season. He had 60 tackles this past season with three sacks and 14 quarterback pressures.

The Giants, who gave up 427 points last season in missing the playoffs for the first time since 2004, drafted South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul in the first round.
