PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has changed the Endangered Species Act classification of the Oregon chub to threatened instead of endangered.

The Oregonian newspaper reports Friday’s action follows a review that found the minnow has rebounded and is unlikely to be in danger of extinction.

The Fish and Wildlife Service listed the Oregon chub as endangered in 1993. The small minnow is found only in the Willamette Valley.
