LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — It’s anybody’s Kentucky Derby. The super horse is out with a swollen leg and a forecast for rain threatens to turn the Churchill Downs track to slop.
The fairy tale finish of last year — in which Mine That Bird won at 50-1 odds — looms over Saturday’s field. Most of the 20 horses have never run on a wet track, and that could set up another wild, unpredictable race.
Lookin At Lucky is the 3-1 morning-line favorite. He is trained by Bob Baffert, who is seeking his fourth victory.
The forecast is for highs in the mid-70s, with 100 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms that could produce an inch of rain in the morning. Then possible showers could total a quarter of an inch of rain through post time.
