Blazers tip off new season vs. Suns on Oct. 26

The Phoenix Suns were the last team the Portland Trail Blazers faced last NBA season, and they will be the first for the 2010-11 season.

The Blazers tip-off their 41st NBA season by hosting the Suns on Tuesday, Oct. 26, the league announced on Tuesday. This marks the second straight year the team opens the season at the Rose Garden.

It was the Suns that eliminated the Blazers from the NBA Playoffs in six games last season.

The league announced last week the Blazers had a prime TV slot with a Christmas Day game at Golden State that will be nationally televised by ESPN.

The schedule includes four four-game road trips and one five-game homestand (Feb. 16-March 1).

Among the featured home dates for the coming season:

• The defending NBA champion L.A. Lakers on Feb. 23 and April 8;

• The LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh-led Miami Heat on Jan. 9;

• The defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics on Jan. 27;

• Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City on Nov. 4 and April 1;

• Dwight Howard’s Orlando Magic on Dec. 9.

Portland will take on 10 of 14 Western Conference opponents twice at home and twice on the road, while playing Houston, the L.A. Clippers, Memphis and Sacramento only three times apiece.

The Trail Blazers will face each Eastern Conference team twice.

The Trail Blazers close out the 2010-11 NBA regular season on Wednesday, April 13, at Golden State.

All 82 Trail Blazers games will be aired by national carriers or the Trail Blazers Broadcast Television Network. Portland’s complete broadcast schedule will be available in the coming weeks.
