NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are retreating as investors grow a little more cautious ahead of a meeting by the Federal Reserve and after China’s economy showed some signs of slowing down.

Overseas markets are falling Tuesday after Chinese trade figures showed a steep slowdown in the growth rate of imports.

Signs of waning growth in the U.S. will be the primary topic of conversation as the Fed meets. Investors will be looking for the Fed’s view of the recovery and for any potential plans to restart stimulus programs in an effort to spark growth.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are down 57, or 0.5 percent, at 10,609. Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures are down 6.50, or 0.6 percent, at 1,119.10, while Nasdaq 100 index futures are down 11.00, or 0.6 percent, at 1,902.75.
