EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have opened their new stadium by honoring some of their biggest stars.

Joe Namath, Don Maynard and Weeb Ewbank, the team’s only members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, have been inducted into the Jets’ Ring of Honor.

The ceremony has taken place at halftime Monday night of the first football game at the New Meadowlands Stadium against the other tenant of the $1.6 billion building, the Giants.

Also honored are Curtis Martin, Joe Klecko and Winston Hill.

Namath, of course, led the franchise to its only championship, winning the 1969 Super Bowl over the Colts. Maynard was his favorite receiver and Hill was a tackle on that team, which Ewbank coached.
