SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police say an officer shot and wounded a grocery store employee Monday night after the man pulled a gun as officers tried to arrest him in a domestic violence investigation.

Police spokesman Mark Jamieson says police believe the man was involved in a felony domestic violence incident Sunday night. When officers arrived at a QFC store in the Wedgwood neighborhood, Jamieson says the man fought them, then pulled a gun from his waistband. The spokesman says that’s when one of the officers fired.

Jamieson says the store employee did not fire his gun.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center. His condition wasn’t available Monday night.

Neither the man nor the officer was immediately identified.
