SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio Silver Stars forward Chamique Holdsclaw has a torn right Achilles’ tendon and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Silver Stars said Tuesday she is expected to have surgery. Holdsclaw was hurt in Sunday’s loss at Minnesota, and the injury leaves the Silver Stars fighting for a playoff spot without their third-leading scorer.

It could also put the future of the former No. 1 overall pick in doubt. Holdsclaw, who retired from the WNBA in 2007, came back last season with Atlanta and signed a one-year deal this summer with San Antonio.

The 33-year-old is a six-time All-Star, averaging 16.9 points and 7.6 rebounds in her WNBA career. She helped Tennessee win three straight NCAA titles.
