SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane County commissioners say they will not oppose a second large tribal casino in the town of Airway Heights, this one proposed by the Spokane Tribe.
Commissioner Todd Mielke dissented, but the other two commissioners agreed not to oppose the Spokane Tribe’s bid to open a casino on 145 acres of land.
The Kalispel Tribe already operates the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights. The Spokane Tribe says the area is closer to its reservation, and plans to ask the federal government to approve a new casino.
