Clinton in Kyrgyzstan to meet with leaders, troops

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has arrived in the Central Asian nation of Kyrgyzstan to meet with government leaders and greet U.S. troops.

Clinton arrived from Kazakhstan, where she attended an international security conference and announced a nuclear security deal with the fOrmer Soviet republic of Belarus.

In Kyrgyzstan, Clinton planned to consult with Prime Minister Roza Otunbayeva on her nation’s rough path toward democratic reform.

The U.S. military uses Manas air base, just outside the Kyrgyz capital, to fly troops and supplies to Afghanistan.
