Mavunga leads Miami (Ohio) over Xavier 75-64

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Julian Mavunga scored a career-high 24 points and Miami upset Xavier 75-64 on Wednesday night.

Nick Winbush scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half to help the RedHawks (3-4) take a 14-point lead with 5:32 left in the game.

The Musketeers cut it to two, 64-62, on a pair of free throws by Mark Lyons with 2:41 left. Mavunga followed with two free throws and Chris McHenry made a desperation 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with 1:45 left in the game, helping the RedHawks snap a three-game losing skid.

Orlando Williams, who had 13 points in Miami’s 66-45 loss at then-No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday, and Antonio Ballard scored 11 each for the RedHawks.

Lyons and Tu Holloway each scored 18 points for Xavier (5-2), which has lost two of its last three after a 4-0 start. Jamel McLean added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Musketeers.
