Tapscott, Portland State trounce George Fox 92-58

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Chehales Tapscott scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Portland State to a 92-58 victory over George Fox on Thursday night.

Charles Odum paced the Vikings (5-2) with 20 points. Nate Lozeau added 16 and Chris Harriel 15.

Rich Smith led the Bruins (1-5) with 16 points, while Mike Taylor scored 11 off the bench.

The Vikings never trailed against the Division III Bruins. After building a 17-7 advantage in the first 5 minutes, Portland State closed the first half with a 28-7 run — thanks to 12 points from Harriel — and led 49-28 at halftime.

The Bruins never challenged in the second half and managed to get only as close as 15 points the rest of the way.

Portland State outscored the Bruins 50-16 in the paint and held a 54-28 rebounding advantage.

The Vikings shot 50 percent and held George Fox to 33 percent.
