MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Closing arguments are scheduled Friday in Medford in the trial of a homeless man accused of starting a wildfire fire at Ashland.

John David Thiry lived in the grassy field where the fire broke out Aug. 24 and spread in fierce winds. Flames destroyed 11 homes, causing more than $3 million in damage.

The 40-year-old is charged with 10 counts of reckless endangerment and 14 counts of reckless burning. He pleaded not guilty.

Thiry waived his right to a jury trial, so the evidence was presented to a Jackson County Circuit Court judge.
