Mets hire Oberkfell, Wilson, Hudgens and Debus

NEW YORK (AP) — Ken Oberkfell has been hired as the New York Mets’ bench coach under new manager Terry Collins following two seasons as the team’s Triple-A manager at Buffalo.

Mookie Wilson was hired as first-base coach Monday, a role he held from 1997-02. Wilson was the Mets’ minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator last season.

Dave Hudgens was hired as hitting coach after five years as Cleveland’s field coordinator. He was Oakland’s hitting coach in 1999 and from 2003-2005.

Jon Debus becomes bullpen coach following two seasons as a professional scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Pitching coach Dan Warthen and third base coach Chip Hale return from the staff of fired manager Jerry Manuel.
