LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska coach Bo Pelini snapped at the suggestion his team might be unenthusiastic about its Holiday Bowl matchup with Washington. He also cut off questions about the extent of any discussions he might have had with Miami about its head coaching job last week.

Pelini met with reporters Monday for the first time since the No. 17 Cornhuskers’ loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game on Dec. 5.

The Miami issue is moot now that Temple’s Al Golden has been hired. But reports out of Florida last week had Pelini pegged as a front-runner.

Pelini also shot down questions about the Huskers’ level of enthusiasm for playing 6-6 Washington in the Holiday Bowl. Nebraska beat the Huskies 56-21 in September. He said his Huskers will be ready to play.
