Waste Connections, Inc., has donated $10,000 to the Parks Foundation of Clark County.

“We’re pleased to support the foundation in its efforts to ensure a healthy community with access to recreation for all Clark County citizens,” said Rob Nielsen, a regional vice president for Waste Connections, in a statement released Monday by the foundation.

With hopes of receiving more donations, foundation board members have pledged a $25 donation to match each contribution through the end of the year.

“Budget cuts continue to impact the future of Clark County’s parks, trails and recreational programs,” Parks Foundation President Henry Gerhard said in the news release. “The directors’ $25 challenge contribution is our way of stepping up to the plate in supporting our parks and recreation programs.”

To make a donation to the foundation, call 360-619-1170 or visit http://www.parksfoundation.us. The website also lists ways the foundation has spent its money.
