Valparaiso cruises to 63-47 win over IPFW

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Kevin Van Wijk had 16 points and four blocked shots Saturday to lead Valparaiso to a 63-47 victory over IPFW.

Brandon Wood added 12 points for the Crusaders (7-4) and Cory Johnson had 11.

Jeremy Mixon had 14 points and Brandon Gaines 12 for IPFW (7-3), which had its six-game winning streak snapped.

Wood scored the first four points of the game for Valparaiso, which never trailed and closed the half on a 13-1 run to go up 39-21 at the intermission.

The Crusaders, who shot 47 percent from the field, led by as many as 26 in the second half. IPFW shot just 26 percent, including 3 of 14 on 3-point attempts.
