Middle Tennessee beats Tennessee State 65-58

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Jason Jones scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Middle Tennessee State over Tennessee State 65-58 on Wednesday night, snapping a four-game losing skid.

The Blue Raiders (5-8) led 27-21 at halftime despite shooting 37.9 percent from the floor (11 of 29) and extended their lead in the second, thanks to a 14-for-27 shooting effort (51.9 percent).

Jones finished 10 of 15 from the floor (66.7 percent) and James Gallman added 15 points for Middle Tennessee.

Patrick Miller scored 16 points and Jacquan Nobles added 12 for the Tigers (6-7), who had their five-game winning streak snapped.

Tennessee State was 20 for 52 from the field (38.5 percent), including 8 of 22 from 3-point range (36.4 percent).

The Blue Raiders posted a 40-26 rebounding edge and outscored the Tigers 30-12 in the paint and 18-9 on second-chance points.
