DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Embattled Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Dan Henning has gone on the defensive.

Henning said Thursday the Dolphins’ sputtering attack is a collective failure that goes beyond blaming the coach, quarterback or coordinator. He said it’s easy to find scapegoats but not solutions.

The Dolphins (7-8) rank next to last in the AFC in scoring, which is a big reason they’re out of the playoff race heading into the season finale at New England.

Henning is unlikely to return next year, and the futures of quarterback Chad Henne and coach Tony Sparano are uncertain.
